BOOKTALK (Snap'N Read / The Graphic Form / Wrap Back to the Title)
Now celebrating 50 years in print, A Wrinkle in Time is the timeless first in a quintet of fantasy and science-fiction tales from the imagination of acclaimed author Madeleine L’Engle.
When the mysterious and whimsical Mrs Whatsit, Mrs Who, and Mrs Which suddenly appear in the lives of Meg Murray and her little brother Charles Wallace, the siblings take off on the family’s most fantastic scientific experiment to date! Traveling through space and time in search of Mr. Murray—Meg and Charles’ missing physicist father—the two “tesser” along with schoolmate Calvin to other planets and galaxies, encountering both wonder and fear beyond their wildest dreams.
But how is it even possible to “tesser,” you’re wondering? Let’s take a look…
“You see,” Mrs Whatsit said, “if a very small insect were to move from the section of skirt in Mrs Who’s right hand to that in her left, it would be quite a long walk for him if he had to walk straight across.”
Swiftly Mrs Who brought her hands, still holding the skirt, together.
“Now, you see,” Mrs Whatsit said, “he would be there, without that long trip. That is how we travel” (85-86).

TEEN VOICE
"A Wrinkle in Time is definitely one of my favorite books of all time. I first read it in 6th grade for school—and, after reading that first book, I immediately took a walk to the library and checked out the other four books in the Time Quintet! I related well to Meg Murray, with her mousy brown hair and not many friends—and Charles Wallace was absolutely the most interesting character I had ever encountered up until that point.
"I also found the time traveling to be so interesting that it even sparked my interest to begin reading more about space and the planets. I think this story really has stood the test of time, and will continue to be on reading lists for years to come.”
Rita B., age 18
“The author did a wonderful job writing this book because I truly felt like I was on the adventure with the characters. After reading this novel, I watched the movie, so I could compare the two. I found that the book was much more enjoyable than the movie, because it allowed me to use my imagination.”
Shivani A., age 19
"My friends and I enjoy science-fiction-type books, because it’s interesting to read about another person’s ideas of how life could be in the future—and how life could be in a completely different world. Sometimes it’s nice to escape from reality.”
Devin P., age 16
